The Circle City has experienced a virtual renaissance in the past few years and is now
a cultural and sports center of the mid-west. Well known for auto racing, Indianapolis
now is the home of the NCAA, and a world class aquarium that is also a certified zoo and
botanical garden. The Eiteljorg Museum of American Indian & Western Art is amazing.
The White River State Park and Canal Walk is a downtown landmark where you can
take a gondola ride, provide the power for your own paddle boat and visit an interactive memorial to America's Medal of Honor recipients. The downtown area offers great shopping and even better restaurants. Families will enjoy the nearby Conner Prairie Historical Village. Don't miss the Rathaus Restaurant & Beir Garten for a true taste of the Old Country. Indianapolis is a 3-3/4 hour drive from St. Louis.
The home of the University of Wisconsin is located on an ithmus between two glacial lakes. Beautiful mansions on tree lined streets and the largest State Capitol make this city a must see. State street's ethnic restaurants offer great food in a European cafe atmosphere. Nearby Spring Green is the resting place of Frank Lloyd Wright as well as a number of homes designed by this world famous architect. Along the way you may want to stop at the Cheese Outlet Store and watch them make Cojack Cheese. Look for the giant mouse. A must see is the House on the Rock. This collection of collections will take a minimum of 3 hours to get through, but its worth it! Take your camera. Madison, Wi. is about a 6-1/2 hour drive from St. Louis.
Missouri Wine Road
Missouri is the home of North America's first designated viticultural area. The cities of
Hermann & Augusta feature a rich history of wine making. Stone Hill winery has the largest
arched cellars in North America. You can start your drive going south on Highway 94 from
highway 40 about 30 miles west of St.Louis. Great for picnics and take your camera.
