PACKING TIPS
Use Scotch Guard on soft-sided luggage, and spray inside and out to provide additional waterproofing.
Pack personal items, underwear, and lingerie in clear plastic bags. It will be easier for airport inspectors to see through during security checks at the airport and your items won't be "messed up." Large plastic bags are useful for the rest of your clothing too. Save the clear bags that bedding and drapery items come in, or use quart and gallon zip lock bags…great for travel!
Layer tissue paper or dry cleaning bags between clothing to reduce wrinkles. Layer soft toilet paper between your clothing, it not only helps to eliminate wrinkles, but also provides a "comfort from home" for the traveler who is used to softer and more plentiful toilet paper than you will find in some countries. An added extra is you have something to wrap those fragile souvenirs in for your return trip. Pack fragile items in your carryon luggage.
Pack all film in your carryon luggage. The x-rays now used for checked luggage is much stronger than for carryon luggage.
Roll knit clothing, slacks, underwear, and socks. Pack socks inside of your shoes to save space. Overpacking causes more wrinkles.
Place any items that might break or spill, such as, cosmetics, nail polish, liquor, perfume, hair spray, etc. in a zip lock bag or unbreakable container.
Pack a copy of your trip itinerary, and your name and phone number inside each bag.
Lighten the load on your way to your destination by waiting to purchase t-shirts,
And other clothing once you arrive.
Take along a collapsible bag for purchases made on the trip.
Cross pack luggage with your trip partner. Half of your belongings go in his/her luggage and half of his/her belongings go in your luggage. At least both of you will have clothing to wear if one piece of luggage is lost.
